Common dental emergencies include pain, swelling or trauma resulting in damage to teeth or gums. We advise patients with a dental emergency to contact the practice as soon as possible. Early treatment can reduce the need for more complex dental work at a later stage.

This is especially important with adult teeth that are knocked out. Time is of the essence with this type of injury. Every effort should be made to retrieve the tooth and provided it is clean, re-insert the tooth into the socket in its original position and immediately attend our practice. If this is not possible, place the tooth in cold milk and attend the practice as soon as possible.

A facial swelling can be a potentially serious emergency if left unattended. If there are any problems with breathing due to the size of a swelling, go straight to the nearest accident and emergency department as this can potentially be life-threatening.
